Fire Pits for your College Tailgate Supplies
When getting together your supplies for this year’s Football Tailgate parties, will a Fire Pit be on your list? It should be, they are portable and easy to use. Most major universities will be represented in the lineup of available models.
Sitting around for hours before the game has become a tradition for the most avid followers of college or professional football teams. I have done this many times before. The bad thing is that it comes at the time of the year when the outside temperatures are not high enough to wear a tee-shirt. What do you do to keep warm, I use a wood-burning fire pit that can be moved very easily to keep warm and maybe cook up some brats or burgers to go with my cold adult beverages.
Now let’s look at one solution that can be personalized to your team.
What do you get
You will get a university name of your choice cut out on two sides of the pit with a CNC run Plasma cutter. This will assure you that both sides will look identical and not have any sharp edges.
In the package, you will get a 16 gauge cold rolled steel fire pit, poker, barbecue grill, spark screen, and plastic weather cover.
The fire pit has three legs welded to the base to keep your fire pit stable in all conditions and will give you about 3 inches of ground clearance. The natural patina finish will continue to tarnish with age, some state that it looks like a rust bucket, this is style.
The 1/2 round safety ring is supported by six 1/2 inch round solid rods welded to the base. This ring will help you carry your pit when not in use. The manufacturer states that the fire pits are guaranteed not to burn through or rust through for five years.
Your fire pit will be 30 inches around and 16 inches from the ground to the safety ring. The inside pit area will be 24 inches around and 12 inches deep.
My favorite team is my home state Mizzou Tigers. Bring your fire pit at the next home football game will make you stand out in the crowd. See you at Faurot Field.
What do you need
You will need something to make a fire for cooking. Most will use briquettes out of a bag, starter fluid, and a match. You can also use your favorite wood to flavor your meat. Mixing and matching will change the taste of your finished product.
You will need something to cook, Meat, Potatoes or Vegetables. A favorite sauce and beverage to make the barbecue a little more tasty.
This season you can be the biggest supporter of your favorite university by showing off your Fire Pit at the Tailgate party before the next home game. If it is extremely cold you can gather around your fire pit to stay warm. The good thing is that you can use this fire pit at your home or camping without too much trouble, just pack your favorite burning material, food, extra sauce, and your favorite beverage.

Thanks for reading,
I love your site! I now have it bookmarked and will be checking back when I go to do my own shopping. I have been wanting to design my own patio soon since I finally got a pool recently so finding your site couldn’t have come at a more perfect time! Great information here on the different types of furniture. Some of this, I would’ve never known until I read this. Great work here!
Thanks for the comments on my site. Hope I can help you get what you need for around your pool. Let me know what you are looking for and I will give you the correct link and information on getting the best deal.
I have also discovered that fire pits are excellent for family BBQ’s in the back yard 🙂
Not only are they quick to set alight and cook burgers, but they give off a great deal of warmth that makes them ideal for the colder weather, especially when us Brits celebrate bonfire night every November.
This fire pit review is excellent, and I will also pass this on to my brother who is also currently at university 😀
We use our fire pit on Halloween to heat up the driveway to give out treats. All of our neighbors come over for a beverage and social event.
You don’t have to use it just for tailgating, it can be used all of the time.
I love the appearance of your site, I feel like I am looking through some window. Very nice. I found that this type of fire pit could be exactly what I need. The only concern that I have is if I can use it over tiles or it has to be concrete or grass. Did you find some solution for changing the height of the wire?
If you do not use in the lawn or driveway, get a fire pad and place it under the decking material. These fire pads will keep your deck from burning or staining from water or sauce as it gets spilled. They are available in several sizes. Look at this link for more details.
I have actually been thinking about adding a fire pit to my tailgating experience, not for a college team, but for the local NFL team. Not only would this be great for cooking, but once we move further into the winter months having a nice open flame like this should come in handy for not freezing to death.
Follow the link on the bottom of the page, you can get anything you want cut into the sides of these Fire Pits. They will customize to your wishes. It may take a couple of weeks to get your pit, but when you go to your next NFL game you can have every one ask where you got your fire pit.
Thats quite the idea of having tail gate parties, where I live people do not get into it. The fire pit itself is definitely something that a lot of us do. Your fire pit would be better than most that we normally see with having team cut outs on the sides.
The product looks like it would work great where we go for the weekends where we like to set up fire pits of a decent size to relax by.
People here in the Midwest will have a tailgate party any time. The College Tailgating season is in full swing at this time. The Pros are out on Sundays at 5 or 6 in the mornings. You can have any logo on the side of these Fire Pits, it does not have to be a sports team.
I am not sure I even know what tailgating is, something to do with foorball?
It doesn’t really matter because this is a great idea for a lot of uses. I can see this fire-pit with my business-logo on it. Any business that like to take their workers or customers outdoors for a party should have one of these fire pits, they look great. Excellent idea and nicely done
Tailgating is going to the big game many hours before it starts. You set up camp with some of your friends and have a party. Some cook, some play games. You can do it with most sports like College Football, Pro Football and Nascar just to name a few.
Business Logos can be put into these Fire Pits, you will just have to special order them. Great gifts or awards for a company.
Hey there John, I really love the look of your website. It really makes me feel like sticking around more =)
About the article, I like that you have highlighted pretty much everything that is needed to out together this portable fire pit.
I could definitely use this article as a reference for future outdoor barbecue activities. How much would it normally cost to get all the materials needed? And how many of these components can be re-used?
Great article =)
Depends on your location for the wood. The wood or other combustibles will be consumed when you have your fire. Meat, marshmallows and other items cooked will hopefully be consumed by your guest.
Most of the Fire Pits are very durable and I have had mine for over 10 years. The cover has been replaced several times. Cost of a Fire Pit can start well under $100, they will not be as good or last as long as the more expensive ones.
